Spinal Decompression Therapy
This is a modern and unique way of treating disc disease. This is an FDA approved, non surgical treatment for bulging and or ruptured discs. Studies have for the most part consistently demonstrated that positive physical changes do occur in the disc after a sufficient number of treatments are given with DTS. The recommended schedule of 20 to 24 treatments over an eight to ten week period is the most effective and most recommended. In other words, where there was once direct pressure on the nerves, after treatment there is not. The direct pressure has been removed by the disc pulling back into a more normal position.
Discs deflate over a period of time due to many factors. No matter the cause the basic thing happening is that the disc is no longer able to imbibe or draw in fluids
as a normal disc is able to. In fact, this is why we are taller in the mornings and shorter towards the evening. While we sleep our healthy discs draw in or imbibe fluids to re-inflate, a diseased disc is unable to do this. The weak disc instead of firming up and standing tall, is weakened and bulges much like a tire on your car that has gone flat.
DTS therapy is a revolutionary treatment unlike conventional traction. It combines both static and dynamic traction. What makes it unique is that in dynamic stages, it slowly builds up to maximum set poundage. Yet so gradual and so gentle you barely perceive it, which allows the body to completely relax and all the tissues to reach their maximum stretch. Then the computer allows a moment of minimum poundage, followed by a repeat of maximum, followed by a gentle release to zero pull. Most patients find it so relaxing that a cat nap is at hand. Do not worry, we will not tell any one you snored! The average treatment lasts about 15 minutes.
Success rates are high but unfortunately there will be a few out there with complications that may not respond as we would like to see. As in anything, absolute guarantees of success can not be made. Dr. Eberting will do his best to make a predetermination for the expected out come in your case. Call today and make your appointment to reduce or hopefully become free of pain.
